Ed Wright sailed a near immaculate series to claim Finn class gold at the Kiel Week Olympic Classes regatta which came to a close on Sunday (29 June).
Skandia Team GBR s Wright posted seven of nine series scores inside the top three, including two race wins, to top the podium for the first time in 2008 in Germany.
In clinching Kiel regatta victory, 30-year-old Wright sailed 2007 Finn World champion and 2004 Olympic silver medallist Rafael Trujillo into second, the Brit finishing four points ahead of the Spaniard, while 2008 Finn Gold Cup bronze medallist and former World Champion Dane Jonas H gh-Christensen took third.
A delighted Wright said: To finish the international season on a high is just great.
Meanwhile, there was joy for Skandia Team GBR Development Squad sailor Andrew Mills, training partner to double Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie, who finished a superb eighth in the Finn, his first top 10 finish of the season.
Fellow Development Squad duo John Pink and Rick Peacock also celebrated a fantastic 49er class fifth as a 12th and 22nd in races 11 and 12 hindered Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes climb up the leaderboard and they finished sixth overall.
Other Top 10 finishes for Britain came in the 2.4mR with Megan Pascoe and Helena Lucas claiming fifth and seventh respectively while Ali Young (Radial) and Richard Hamilton (Men s RS:X) both finished eighth in class.
